KNEHO Patinas – Solvent- or Water-Based

Product Description

KNEHO patinas are specialized products available in solvent- or water-based versions, designed for antiquing surfaces, edges, and grooves. These ready-to-use products create a distinctive aged look with an authentic antique effect.

They are mainly used to enhance closed-pore woods such as oak, walnut, cherry, or mahogany. KNEHO patinas highlight carved details, decorative profiles, and natural wood textures, resulting in a genuine vintage appearance.

Properties:

Drying Time

At 20°C, the patina dries within 15–30 minutes.

Attention

Before application, mix the patina thoroughly to evenly distribute the pigments. The surface must be already stained and primed. Ensure that the primer coat is completely dry before applying the patina.

Application Instructions

Preparation

Before application, stir the stain thoroughly. During use, mix periodically to avoid color differences.

Application

Apply the patina with a brush, sponge, or spray gun, depending on the desired effect. After application, wipe off the still-wet patina with a clean cloth, leaving the product only in the grooves and recessed details. Alternatively, allow it to dry and lightly sand with Scotch-Brite to achieve a controlled antique effect.

Finishing

After the patina has completely dried, it is recommended to seal the patinated surfaces with KNEHO lacquers. The choice of lacquer depends on the final use of the product and the expected wear level. For optimal protection, apply 1–2 coats of lacquer.

Color Options

For creating individual colors, patinas can be mixed together if the manufacturer confirms their compatibility. To lighten the color, use the solvent recommended by the manufacturer.
